My Beach Pictures
These were taken right after Hurricane Floyd swept by us on September 13-14, 1999.  I went a little south of Jacksonville into Ponte Vedra to beachcomb for shells.  The waves were not that bad and there were some surfers out on the water.

This is just a pretty nice house I walked by on the beach.

Some of the shells we found.

Amongst the shells we found a lot of starfishes that didnt survive Floyd.

These next pictures were taken at Jacksonville Beach.

This is a hotel on the beach that received some damage.  Note the upper corner of the roof.

This is the historic Jacksonville Beach Pier.  It received a lot of damage from the hurricane.

Here is the rest of the pier.  Approximately 50-75  feet of the pier was torn off the end in the storm.

The middle of the pier was heavily damaged as well and may fall into the ocean soon.

The Jacksonville Beach

This was Hurricane Floyd.  Note that he is larger that the entire state of Florida.
